After many countries have implemented the electronic visa system, the Indonesian government has now also implemented the electronic visa (E-Visa) to make the visa process easier and easier than ever before! The system was introduced online in October 2020 and has already proven to be a significant improvement over the old system.
After issuing several policies related to the temporary ban of foreigners from entering the Indonesian territory, the government is now working on easing visa restrictions for many visa applications. Currently, the granting of a visa is limited to visitor visas (index B211A, B211B and B211C) and temporary resident visas.
In the new updated Regulation No. 26 of 2020 dated October 1, 2020 from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, foreign nationals with a valid legal visa and/or residence permit will be allowed to enter the Indonesian territory through the designated immigration border control after undergoing the health protocol .
Meanwhile, the Minister is still temporarily suspending the granting of visa on arrival and visa exemption until the status of Covid 19 is declared by the relevant national ministry or agency.
On the contrary, a single visitor visa, a single entry visa, is still allowed for purposes such as emergency and essential work, business meeting, purchase of goods, probationary period for foreign workers, medical and food worker and humanitarian aid. , and a crew member joining the ship in Indonesia.
For a temporary resident visa application, the government allows for the following purposes:

The application for Visit Visa and Temporary Stay Visa mentioned above technically has to be made by the Indonesian Sponsor to the Director General of Immigration (DGI). After getting the approval, the visa can be issued electronically as e-Visa.
Additionally, this e-Visa is also applicable for foreigners who are currently staying in Indonesia (commonly known as Onshore application). Once your e-Visa is granted, you must proceed to the designated immigration office in the area you reside.

Do you still need to pay the Indonesian Embassy fee?

However, there is a fee that appears up front while the sponsor processes your visa approval on your behalf. Payable $50 for the visitor visa application and $150 for applying for a temporary resident visa.
Important Note, technically, after the Sponsor submits an online order, they will receive a billing statement, whether it’s $50 or $150, which is valid for 7 (seven) calendar days only. Once the settlement is completed, the payment is non-refundable.
